This photo has been a very, very long time in the making. I first had the idea for a child to be blowing a jellyfish out of a bubble in 2011 (let's be real, it probably came from my love of Spongebob), and I created a painting of it in my high school art class. It was a part of a series called "Impossible Possibilities," where I created different scenes that almost looked real but could only be possible in a child's imagination. Then in 2012, I tried my hand a creating it photographically, and since it was for my second 365 project I kept it online, though even at the time I didn't think it was very successful. I didn't like the lighting or the background and couldn't quite get the colors to work right so I turned it black and white, even though that eliminated some of the meaning of the piece. It's always been one of my favorite concepts though, so I decided to revisit the idea again! And now, I'm super pleased with the result. Grant was a trooper blowing bubbles for me, and I think we made a pretty awesome image together!
